Leatherback Program

The SKSTMN has been monitoring the two primary leatherback nesting beaches since March 2003. Initially morning patrols were conducted and in April 2005 night patrols were implemented. Each nesting female encountered is assessed and management and health data are collected. All of this work is done with careful considerations given to animal safety and comfort and under permissions granted by the St. Kitts Department of Marine Resources.
